I was born on September 12, 1969 in Nederland, Texas, USA. After turning 6 years old, my family moved from Nederland to Wildwood, about 40 minutes north of Beaumont. There I learned to play golf by watching my parents and my brothers play. I learned so much through the years playing golf in Wildwood. I graduated high school at Warren High School in 1988 and received a scholarship to play golf at Temple Junior College in Temple, Texas. After one semester, I dropped out to join the US Army. I joined the Army in June 1989 and completed my Basic and AIT Training in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. I received orders to go to Germany in November 1989. I was stationed at Johnson Barracks, Fuerth, Germany till 1993. During that time I participated in Operation Desert Storm. After marrying the love of my life, Birgit in 1992, I decided to stay in Germany after my military service and turn professional in golf. In 1995, we had our only child, Kyle, whom I named after my brother that died back in 1983. I did my 3 year apprenticeship in Golfclub Erlangen in Nuremberg, Germany. After my qualification as pro, my first job as a Head Pro was at GC Koenigstein. Then in 2001 I changed to GC Fuerth. Since 2005 I have been teaching golf at GC Erlangen.
